Wind Speed Patterns

Share |

Weather conditions are a key consideration with all location shoots, and researching the climate is often one of the first tasks in selecting a shortlist of suitable locations.

Weather Patterns for Wind Speed shows average wind speeds at a particular place for all hours of the day and night. This is based on observations that are made over a number of years at regular times during the day, typically at three-hourly intervals.

By interpolating this data it is possible to illustrate variations in wind speed through the day and night. The following example for Le Raizet Airport in Guadeloupe illustrates how wind can be a problem during the afternoon on many Caribbean islands, something that many filmmakers have encountered.
