Smoke & Haze Patterns

Share |

Weather conditions are a key consideration with all location shoots, and researching the climate is often one of the first tasks in selecting a shortlist of suitable locations.

Weather Patterns for the Probability of Smoke & Haze shows the probability of the existence of smoke and haze in the atmosphere at a particular place for all hours of the day and night. This is based on observations that are made over a number of years at regular times during the day, typically at three-hourly intervals.

By interpolating this data it is possible to illustrate variations in the occurrence of smoke and haze. The following example for Chiang Mai in Thailand shows high levels in the early part of the year and particularly in March and April. Weather Patterns for Visibility shows the extent of the problem caused by smoke and haze in the atmosphere.
