Crop Calendars

Film makers often need to find locations in areas where particular agricultural crops, such as Wheat, are growing or are ready for harvesting. Our Crop Calendars show where some specific crops are grown around the world, and also when the growing season is for each region.

It is often useful to view crop calendars in conjunction with the vegetation greenness and rainfall figures that are available in the climate guides.

The Crop Calendars are compiled from the Global data set of Monthly Irrigated and Rain-fed Crop Areas around the year 2000 (MIRCA2000) supplied by the Institute of Physical Geography at the University of Frankfurt. Crop Calendars currently available are for wheat and maize. Calendars for barley, sunflowers and coffee will soon follow.
